The Associated Press is reporting that Special Prosecutor Angela Corey has decided against bringing Trayvon Martin’s case before a grand jury. Although this decision eliminates the possibility of Zimmerman being charged with first-degree murder, it is encouraging because of the complexities of the Stand Your Ground law in Florida and the overall fear that some Floridians would be more interested in defending their state’s reputation against accusations of vigilante racism than in hearing the facts of the case. Hopefully, Angela Corey is objective enough in her investigation to help Trayvon Martin’s family to receive the justice they have been seeking.
